What’s not to like about German cuisine? Like the beers it often accompanies, German cuisine is full-bodied and hearty—brats, cheese, carbs… real “man” food (insert grunting, chest-thumping sounds here).
VBGB sold itself a little short when it named itself a “Beer Hall & Garden.” Sure, it boasts Charlotte’s largest patio and over 30 craft beers and imports on draft, but the food menu is pretty amazing as well. Most of the food is homemade from the owner’s personal recipes, and the Zweigles brats are nitrate and MSG free. After you’re done with your brat, try a jumbo gourmet pretzel served with hot, creamy beer cheese, or a platter of potato latkes with sour cream, or perhaps a side of German potato salad—man, those Germans sure do love their potatoes. Hey, you’re not full already, are you? Atta boy.
But as skilled as they are at preparing German, VBGB’s menu caters to a variety of tastes and includes a selection of burgers, chicken options served with Dinosaur BBQ sauce, traditional bar appetizers and even a few salads.
