Sun-Ray Cinema combines the distinctive experience of a classic, single screen cinema with the amenities modern moviegoers have come to expect. First opening in 1927 as the Riverside Theatre, the cinema was the first in the city equipped to screen films with sound. The original design of the building allowed it to be converted easily to accommodate live theatre, just in case that whole "talking movies" thing turned out to be a flash in the pan. It ultimately served as a movie theatre for the community only intermittently until the 1990s when it was converted to a nightclub.

Now under new leadership, Sun-Ray Cinema is restoring the theatre with the goal of making it the anchor for the neighborhood that it once was. The theatre screens new blockbusters as well as the best films that fly beneath the radar, and everything else in between––all with the highest standards of presentation and experience. Plus, coming in early 2012, they'll have seatside food service featuring house made pizzas and appetizers.
